When I decided to do a run of some Halloween books, Midnight Playground immediately popped into my head. However, it’s not really a Halloween story. I debated using it, and even contacted Eliza Gayle to ask if she was ok with it being linked to Halloween. When she agreed, I ran with it. Want to know why I wanted to include this book? Keep reading.
After trying unsuccessfully to come up with a summation of the plot, I decided to use the blurb from Ms Gayle’s website.
Eve’s desperate denial only means one thing…she has a lot to learn.
Eve Blake has been working at Altered Ego, a studio specializing in fetish photography, for three months when a custom order comes in for a plus-sized red head. Ready for an adventure, she volunteers for the job and Chase, her boss, reluctantly accepts. Maybe pretending to be a sexual slave for Chase’s camera will get her one step closer to the two men she thinks can satisfy even her darkest needs.
Chase can’t believe he’s agreed to this deal. The cardinal rule in any business is not to get involved with your employees and that includes your sexy receptionist. Something he and Murphy learned the hard way. And he has a hunch the first time they touch their rope to Eve’s creamy flesh, there will be no turning back. They’ll have to have her.
One shoot leads to another and Eve finds herself in the midst of a playground at midnight. When the scene takes a dark turn, Eve sinks deeper into sensation at the hands of two masters who push for her ultimate surrender. Will she reach the limit of how far she can go? Or will the ties that bind form bonds of love?
I LOVE this story. It kept me on simmer the entire time… every time I’ve read it, which was more than just a couple.
I mean, what’s not to love? The characters are wonderful. Eve is someone I felt like I already knew. She could be you, me, or the girl next door. The things she experiences at the hands of Chase and Murphy came straight out of my fantasies. The scenes and the sex are smokin’ hot. I loved reading about them pushing Eve’s boundaries and the joy she finds in experiencing things for the first time.
Now, why did I want so badly to include this story? Well, as we all know, Halloween, in its current incarnation, is about who can scare who the most, right? Fear is not always created by things suddenly popping out at you or scary monsters… Sometimes it’s created in the mind alone by reaching boundaries and being pushed past them. If you asked me to explain my “fantasy scare,” I would simply point you to Midnight Playground for the actual playground scene. I cannot explain it beyond that. Want to know more, READ IT.
So, I’m including this in my Halloween reviews for one of my absolute favorite scenes. The next story in this series, Power Play, will be coming out on November 22nd and I cannot wait. I suggest you read this one first. If you wish for more information about Eliza Gayle and her stories, please visit her website.

Great post! I so loved this book and its characters. Chase and Murphy make my knees buckle; that Eve is a lucky girl.
Cannot wait for Power Play!
