Blurb:
Luc, Carter, and Jake make up the Buffalo Intimidators’ top scoring line and play together both on and off the ice, with a history of sharing women. Each of them is also a client of massage therapist Eva. When they decide they want to be more than just clients, they approach her about having a ménage a quatre.
Eva’s been secretly lusting after the guys for months, but was afraid to say anything in an attempt to keep her relationship with the guys on a strictly professional level. Besides, how could she pick just one when such mouthwatering displays of masculinity are spread out on her massage table every day? She agrees to the ménage, but when serious health problems begin to plague members of the team, will she want more than a quick score with her hockey boys?
Penelope’s Review:
Eva Saunders, massage therapist, has a strict no dating or sex with her clients policy but Carter, Luc, and Jake, players for the Buffalo Intimidator hockey team, want her to bend that rule. All three of them want to have a sexual relationship with her and they let her know they don’t mind sharing.
Dating three of the team’s top players is exciting, strenuous, and mutual fulfilling but Eva knows it can’t last. With possible career ending injuries, trades with other teams, and health concerns Eva can only enjoy being in the present and not worry what the future will bring but she hopes. Hopes she won’t end up with a broken heart when their relationship ends.
I was never a hockey fan until I found out what’s been hiding under all that padding and helmets those guys wear. Forget the persona of broken teeth, bleeding cuts, and nasty scars, these guys are sex on a stick and I have a new appreciation for ‘scoring’ in the sport of hockey.
What started out a little slow quickly picked up once the action started. There isn’t any m/m action in this multiple partner story, rather, the men focus exclusively on Eva and her pleasures. I personally feel that writing a menage a quatre scene is the most difficult erotica to write so when I say that Cassandra Carr puts the O in orgasm I’m not kidding. Each character is an active participant and has their own unique style within the relationship. I did have some issues with certain parts of the book but can’t go into them further because revealing those concerns would be a spoiler and I don’t do spoilers. But these issues don’t detract from the overall story.
The actual plot and sub plot was well written and engaging. The author took an issue that professional athletes already face and wrote a story that had me turning the pages to find out how it would all work out. I do admit to having a silent scream session with my e reader halfway through the book when a key event happened and the characters didn’t react to something that was so obvious to me, but the author surprised me with subsequent twists and turns that kept me guessing if I was right or wrong to the very end.
This is the second of the ‘Buffalo Intimidator’ series written by Cassandra Carr and I highly recommend reading it along with the 1st of the series ‘Head Games.’ But a word of warning: reading this book may result in you wanting to become a puck bunny yourself.
