One night stands are supposed to be forgettable… But what if the sparks are still flying?
Cort arrives in Blue Ridge with the prospect of a job he can’t resist: the rewiring of a plantation home. Digging into the walls of historical buildings to learn about them from the inside out is a passion he can’t deny. With his mind focused on catching up with his old friends and the challenge of ancient wires, a romantic set up is the last thing he suspects.
And he’s not the only one in the dark…
Blue can’t believe the man pulling to a stop in front of her house is the same man she met in a Savannah riverfront bar five years ago. Heated memories of their one night flood her, but the chill in his eyes remind her of the coward she’d been by leaving while he was sleeping. This time, she can’t escape him or the things he makes her feel. He’s in her space, surrounded by their friends, and every throbbing cell in her body is involved…
So’s her heart.
Angry words, angry sex, good food and cups of strong coffee all washed away by a Southern summer thunderstorm, and the road to forever has taken a turn…
Between the pages of this book you’ll find meddling friends, drunk cakes, a corset tattoo, and a Southern plantation. But, what you need to be on the look out for is a heroine laying siege to a hero with nothing but her sassy mouth holding him against the door…
Review by Riane:
I’ve read all the Blue Jeans and Hard Hats books. They’ve been hot, sweet, and just awesome. In Forever in Blue Jeans, we get to meet Cort and Blue. Both of which are friends of characters in the previous books… it works to read them out of order but you may learn things that would have made it better to start from the beginning, make sense? Good.
I really enjoyed this story. It was very interesting to see these two dance around each other. I found both characters to be very relatable and real. Someone you would expect to meet moving in next door to you. Although, if Blue moved in next door to me, I really want to see those pictures!!
Blue was funny and forthright. Outgoing and just downright comfortable in her own skin. Cort was a bit uptight… in a fun way. He’s pressed and perfect… and yet, he’s not. He’s well… **sigh** He’s Cort.
The sex was hot, steamy, and creative.
I love the scenes where you can tell that the characters are really comfortable with themselves and just enjoy each other. That’s what you get from Cort and Blue. However, this is also where I had my biggest drawback. You see, I knew going in that this book is not labeled as kinky or BDSM at all. However, in the story, they talk about her preferred kink. We don’t get to hear much about any preferences Cort has, but he seems quite interested in hers. She really enjoys spanking and exhibitionism. Not Dom/sub… just spanking and exhibitionism. Ok, awesome I may get some kink! … but that’s as far as it goes. Given the amount of times it was mentioned through the story, I would have loved one good spanking scene, and/or one solid exhibition scene. Was it a big problem? No, just a bit of a disappointment given that I so love the scenes that Ms. Matthews has written in the past.
This story is based in the Blue Ridge Mountains which, as a North Carolina girl, are near and dear to my heart. I loved how Ms Matthews brought in local details, including a shout out to the muscadine wine of NC, without it feeling out of place in the book. For me? That was just the icing on a drunk cake. *smirk*
Bottom line is that this book is a solid sexy, romantic story with characters that I just loved. I think this is the last Blue Jeans and Hard Hats story. I hope I’m wrong, but if it is, I guess I’ll just have to go back and read them all over again, and again.
