Review by Penelope:
Billionaire FW Shenley, aka Red Webster, likes to scope out new acquisitions, incognito, before he officially takes control in order to find out what the business is really like. But this time, it’s different. He keeps getting side tracked by Vicki Renard, one of the section leaders. He can’t seem to keep away from her even though she’s good at her job. He would like to offer her a new position with his company. One that would be much more satisfying for both of them with fringe benefits not offered to any other employee. She would just have to submit and accept him as her Master.
Vicki Renard hates Red Webster. He was sent by the new owner to do a pictorial layout of the business but he’s always photographing her and hanging around her office. He needs to finish doing whatever it is he’s suppose to do and leave, especially after seeing her personal e-reader with it’s list of BDSM romance books.
This contemporary erotic romance read is a business girl’s worst nightmare come to life. Dropping her e-reader at work only to have it discovered by a male co-worker finding her inventory of ’The Story of O’ and other BDSM titles. I had to read this book for that premise alone.
What started out as a promising story turned out to be a cookie cutter rendition resembling ’Clark Kent’ vs ‘Lois Lane’ BDSM style. It was a good book with a good story but not anything I haven’t read about before or seen in similar plots. It reminded me of a Harlequin Romance if they did erotica. The twists and turns were predictable while the BDSM elements were inconsistently good. The many references to quotes from ‘The Story of O’ were lost on me as I haven’t read it and couldn’t appreciate any significance the author intended. Lastly, the editorial/syntax issues had a mosquito irritation factor that repeatedly pulled me out of the story.
I would recommend this book for readers who enjoy reading about office relationships with a co-worker secret pleasure fantasy. Not to be taken seriously, this story is still a hot read that includes a sweet feel good ending.
