Elizabeth, a part-time manager of Bell’s Irish Pub and business student, is newly hitched. Her marriage could use a serious shake up, but she finds shopping a more therapeutic use of her time. Madame Eve may have finally met her match. Logan and Zach have signed up for a menage date through the 1Night Stand service. The problem? Logan is physically and mentally scarred as a result of injuries he sustained from a roadside bomb. But more importantly, it also left him impotent. Zach wants his brother-in-arms Logan to see that not all women will judge him on his physical appearance like his ex-girlfriend did.
"Wild Thunder" was a ho-hum book for me. The main character Shanay Gold is trying to get to her buddy/sometimes lover Ethan James who is holed up deep in the mountains in Virginia. Ethan had left his life as a cop to escape his own personal torment. Shanay and Ethan aren't star-crossed lovers, but Shanay feels obligated to check up on him and see if she can bring him home.
Cathela organizes the perfect annual company Halloween party at Slains Castle (where Bram Stoker himself got his inspiration for "Dracula") sparing no expense to set the mood including props and support staff dressed in character. When she and her boyfriend have a fight during the party she retreats to the bar where a Scottish Dracula bartender serves her "Dracula's Kiss," his signature drink. Maybe it's the alcohol but Cathela, who's always had a crush on Gary Oldman's Dracula, finds herself in the dungeon with Alec, the Scottish Dracula wanna be, who intends to make her Dracula's bride for the night.
Calhoun Cordell should have had his head examined when he agreed to show up at his ex-fiance's wedding. The glares and dirty looks were expected but Katherine, the bride, begged him to attend so he did. Just when he's ready to make a quiet exit Daniel Patterson, successful CEO and good friend of the groom, introduces himself and talks him into leaving with him to hang out at a local bar for the rest of the night. Good looking, sexy, and gay, is Daniel helping out his friend, the groom, or does he have another reason to get Cal alone?
This is the 3rd of the Steele Brother Trilogy. The two older brother Doms have found their ideal submissive partners and want little brother Rafe to do the same so they arrange a 1Night Stand date for him as a 'welcome to Las Vegas' gesture.
Now, I have to say that this story was a total shocker for me. I grabbed it, because I have been the resident The Edge Series reviewer for Hotly Ever After it would seem. So, I had to grab it. There were a few that I didn’t like. I was so worried this would be another. I wasn’t sure about it.
Working as the chief of a trauma center has always been busy but something like this has never happened to Dallas before. Wolves in the ER, How can that be? All heck breaks loose when these same wolves bite him and to beat it all it is on the very night he is to go on his date that Madame Eve set up for him with the 1 night stand service. After a call from Madame Eve it looks as if he may have a second chance at love. He is to meet his date after all. Will she even want to see him? After all he certainly does not look his best or even feel up to par. Can the two enjoy a one night stand or will it be over before it even starts?
I must admit. I went into this story with some trepidation. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Dommes. For me, it is hard to hit the right mark and make me a believer that this woman could arouse me to the point of melting. If I am going to let a woman ‘whip’ me, she better make me want it. Well, I have to say Katalina didn’t disappointment in the Domme department. I think she is the hottest Domme I have read to date. I haven’t read many, so just take note. But Katalina has made me a believer, and she sort of makes me want a Domme to take a whack at me.
Neva Falk has spent her life beneath the loving thumb of a police chief father and four overprotective brothers. Seizing a chance to escape, she runs across the country to the motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, where bikes roll and freedom rocks. Neva’s mission? Lose her virginity to someone who can stand up to the men in her family even if she has no intention of ever introducing him to Daddy and the boys.
I want to start this out by saying that giving a two star review is the hardest thing I will ever do. I hate it. I hate when book doesn’t totally consume me and entertain me. I would also like to say that a two star, by Goodreads standards means ‘I liked it’. Which, with this story I did. First I am going to say what I liked, then go into what just jarred me out of that enjoyment.
Is it possible to be totally ecked out and aroused at the same time? Oh, I would say it is. With some elements of D/s and trying to figure out who the ‘dead one’ is in this one, I was sucked into yet another short erotica story by Ms. Starke. She upped the game in this one, with the story of a woman that has lost her luggage and is at the police station to file a report. Not only does the very helpful cop offer for her to stay at his place, but a sexual escapade ensues that is enough to heat any cold, dead body.
This story went back and forth for me. I had moments when I was drooling, then moments when I felt as if the writing was gathering a dead weight feel. I think the plot was just not a personal preference for me. I am not sure if the characters were too wooden for me, or if the plot didn’t speak to me with this level of hard limits with a character, but I didn’t click with this story. I think because we were tossed instantly into a scene, with no previous built up that I struggled.
It is very hard for me to review books by Olivia now. I feel like I am just saying the same thing over and over again. And my gushing just makes people eye roll at my review. But I can’t help it. Olivia is simply one of the best story tellers I have read. I am so glad that I discovered her with this The Edge Series. She can tell one hell of a wicked creepy tale, and this one is no different.
