When "One Dom to Love" was given to me, I was warned that it is the first book in a continuing series of the same characters. I was a little concerned that the warning was necessary and hoped that I wouldn't end up in another situation where I hit the end and kept trying to make my nook turn the page so I could keep reading, but at least this time I was forewarned, right?
I started reading this book around midnight thinking I'd read a couple of chapters and then go to bed. I finally forced myself to put the darn nook down and go to sleep around 4am. I was immediately sucked into the story. This book doesn't spend a few chapters slowly introducing you to the characters and the situation, it drops you right into the storyline but still gives you all the background you need. This book is hard for me to review. I thought the storyline had real promise and in the beginning, everything was great and I was enjoying it. I do enjoy a TPE storyline even as it pushes my limits a bit, or more because it pushes my limits. However, as time went on, this storyline surpassed a TPE and went into some very extreme areas.
Jordan "Ink" Fielding is an alpha Dom and co-owner of Club Ink, a BDSM club that caters to the paranormal crowd. Known for his hard-core BDSM play and uncanny way of getting into his sub's minds, Ink is as respected and desired as he is feared. Seeing his twin brother happy with his new wife and expecting their first child has Ink deciding that it's long past time for him to claim his own mate who's been refusing him for years.
The Publisher's Proposal is a relatively short novella with a lesbian BDSM theme that focuses on the relationships of an erotica editor, her publisher, and her best selling author, whom the editor has helped attain authenticity in her writing by personally training her in the finer points of BDSM. While reading it, at one point I remember thinking that this book contains some of the best writing in this genre that I have read in awhile in terms of creative premise, interesting characters, and snappy dialogue. Indeed, I still think that, but as for being a satisfying erotic BDSM read, it fell somewhat short.
You know how it is when you find a book that you absolutely LOVE and it just touches something inside of you so strongly you want to tell everyone about it. Especially, your friend who you talk books with all the time, but you know it's not her style of book. That's my issue right now. So, instead of telling her, I'll tell you. This is one book you MUST read.
Danielle Watson is a contracted "Earther" sex slave at a brothel on the planet Donovon. She wouldn't have been if the Kalquorian Warriors hadn't attacked Earth causing its inhabitants to flee when it became a dead planet. She needs to earn enough to pay off her contract and she'll be free to go and live anywhere she wants to except for the planet Kalquor where the Kalquorians live.
Joey W Hill is a name you hear all over the place when it comes to Erotic Romance books, right? Well I have a confession to make. This is the first book I've read by Ms Hill. At the beginning, I was ready to reach through the book and throttle Mr Matthew Kensington. I mean seriously. I wanted her to tear him a new one. There was some doubt as to if they would get out of this without a rape charge, and you guys know that I love a man taking charge and pushing limits. However, this was definitely pushing it for me.
This story went back and forth for me. I had moments when I was drooling, then moments when I felt as if the writing was gathering a dead weight feel. I think the plot was just not a personal preference for me. I am not sure if the characters were too wooden for me, or if the plot didn’t speak to me with this level of hard limits with a character, but I didn’t click with this story. I think because we were tossed instantly into a scene, with no previous built up that I struggled.
It is very hard for me to review books by Olivia now. I feel like I am just saying the same thing over and over again. And my gushing just makes people eye roll at my review. But I can’t help it. Olivia is simply one of the best story tellers I have read. I am so glad that I discovered her with this The Edge Series. She can tell one hell of a wicked creepy tale, and this one is no different.
After losing her husband two years ago, Dana isn't certain about getting back into the game. She has dated a little but made sure to keep it vanilla. I mean, her husband taught her how to submit, how can she now give that gift to someone else? Finding herself attracted to another Dom makes Dana start questioning if perhaps she should try to make it work.
