Kristina Blackthorne is a trophy wife, and she is spoiled. No doubt about it. Jack, her wealthy husband, gives her everything she wants – an unlimited shopping budget, an exclusive membership at the finest country club in town, and a new Porsche. Kristina tries to help him get over his first wife by learning to play the classical music that was her life, but it’s a lot harder than she expected. She wants to give up, but an unpleasant argument with Jack leaves him ready to divorce her. Now she’s stuck with a very expensive piano, a no-nonsense teacher who’s already spanked her with a hairbrush, and a husband returning to the dominant life she never knew he had. Can she learn quickly enough to escape punishment? Or does she enjoy the sexual arousal it provokes too much to behave herself? This full-length novel is the first in the Spanked Princesses series. Please note that the story includes mature situations, spanking, and delicious lovemaking.

Review by Sir’s Kitten:
Rating: 5 of 5 kinks!
I have to admit, I went into this story with a bit of trepidation. I am not a huge fan of Domestic Discipline. It comes off to me as far to humiliating at times. Or maybe, as a submissive, I feel that I need it in my life, and it is a hard pill to swallow, that something that intense is something I crave. Either way, I was hunting for something with great spanking in it, and I grabbed this title off my review list. I let it hang back a bit. I hate not liking a story for reasons that are personal, so I almost, I repeat, almost passed this book off.

I have to say that I am so glad that I didn’t! Once I started this story, I couldn’t stop. I read well into the wee hours of the morning till I finished the story, because it was one of those stories that I just had to know how it all turned out. Or maybe at certain points, I really needed it to turn out well! I needed answers, and I was longing to get them. The author did a great job about not giving away too much, and allowing the storyline to take place through the lead female’s eyes. There were slight shifts in POV to the male lead, which we needed. I needed to know how he was feeling. However, at a certain point, the author gave it all over to Kristina. I empathized with her so much, that I found myself crying many times in this story. I did get the feeling that she was written overly childish, but if I was dressed and told I had all the rights of a thirteen year old, I have this pressing feeling that I would behave very similar to Kristina.

I had trouble at times with some of the spanking scenes. But as the scene progressed, feeling the reaction of the Heroine, and then noticing my own reaction to the scene, I realized it wasn’t hitting triggers, but it was hitting curiosity. The woman was raised from the age of thirteen to be self centered. It wasn’t a choice, and I was wondering how Jack, as a experienced Dom, totally thought his wife was vanilla, and moaned to his best friend about it nightly. Yet, Kristina was so submissive I related to her on every need, and urge she had. The spanking scenes were what I like to call, impact play, or heavy spanking. It was bordering on masochistic, so if you are faint at heart, don’t read this. I, however, loved every scene I knew she was getting spanked in.

The story flowed and I read each word riveted to the page. I found myself wanting more at the end. I do think the author could have given a longer HEA. It was all explained, and sorted in the last few percents (I have a kindle) and I would have liked Jack to come forward sooner, and give her the run down. It was a great ending, that made me suck in my breath and if I was Jack’s submissive I would have earned a new punishment with some more pouting, while being aroused at how controlled he was through the whole thing. He had a vulnerability that slowly evolved into the Dom he was meant to be at the end. I knew that Kristina was a sub, because I am a sub, and I felt everything that she felt. Confusion and arousal clashed to create a very titillating read.

This book did have some grammar issues for me, but I can over look grammar any day for a great story!

This is a recommended read for me.

Kristina is young, naive but one thing she never varies on is that she wants to please her husband.  She wants to make him happy.  She loves him.  And when he threatens to divorce her, she panics, wondering what she will do on her own.  She follows a friends advice and says she will accept whatever discipline he feels necessary.  The next day, he’s had his lawyer draw up papers that she doesn’t really understand.  These papers say she’s his “ward,” “irrevocably for a period of 5 years,” and that he has her permission to treat her as a child, with him the parent, in all ways.  That’s all the explanation she gets, other than her friend saying “Oh my husband spanks me when I get out of line and I love it so.”

Now, I will fully admit I have problems when a Dom hands off the punishment of his sub, for doing wrong to him, to someone else.   However, honestly, that wasn’t really a problem I had with this book, as all the discipline that occurred from others was basically because of something she did wrong in their area.  (Except for the first hairbrush spanking which DID piss me off but that’s a small thing in the long run.)  The problem I had was him withholding himself from her.  Him not having ANYTHING to do with the actual discipline for… oh… 90% of the darn book.

In the end, he did explain himself.  And probably, for a lot of readers, such as my friend who wrote the other review *smirk*, it will be all wonderful and explain everything.  But I have to call BS and wonder if the ends really justify the means.  He stood by watching her form herself in the image of his dead wife.  Did she end up good at the things she was doing? Yes, but it was still her effort to fill the spot of a ghost.  She was spanked to the point she was broken by someone else, then he would swoop in and kiss and cuddle and fu…have sex with her and all was well.  She lost connection with her friends, she didn’t leave the house unless someone took her out, which was rare.  She fixated on doing everything she could to make him happy.  Even if he never told her so.  He never said he loved her for 90% of the book.  He never said he was proud of her for 90% of the book.  Other than the after-spanking-cuddles and sex, we saw him having nothing to do with her except sit back and smile while someone else spanked her or used a cane on her.  And the reason he gives at the end for all this?  I feel it’s a cop out.

I had a hard time on the rating for this one.  I will grant that the sex scenes are hot.  The editing needs some help, but I was able to get past that.  I can’t say don’t read it as, obviously, some people will enjoy this book.  I feel that it would have been so much better if he was actually involved in the storyline more and if it were clear that he wanted her for HER.  In the end, if you’re looking for a hot spanking read and are able to read the emotions in the book as Sir’s Kitten did instead of how I did, then you’ll probably enjoy it.  However, if like me, you have issues with a woman asking for discipline from her husband only to have him basically disappear leaving her to accept discipline from everyone but him, or with a woman fully admitting that she does things because she’s scared of the person in charge…not a hint of fear, but flat out afraid of her, or issues with a woman getting to the point that she feels she’s not good enough for anything or anyone and then honestly never gets built back up to feeling otherwise, you may want to rethink this one.

(Oh, and you’ll also need to get past the fact that he flat out tells her she’s now a 13 year old, dressed as a 13 year old, sent to school as a 13 year old, treated by everyone as a 13 year old but then… yep, you guessed it, he has sex with her.  Is it sick? No, because she is NOT a 13 year old… but I still had a hard time shifting that gear.)
