A woman in danger…

Serena Brooks is a bestselling author of erotic fiction. She knows how to write a happy ending but hasn’t managed to find one of her own. Divorced and alone, she has no one to turn to when a stalker begins to threaten her life. The cops don’t believe her. Her ex-husband thinks she’s making the whole story up. She has no one left to turn to except a pair of hired bodyguards. They promise to guard her body, but no one can protect her heart.

Two men in search of love…

Adam Miles and Jacob Dean are halves of a whole. They’ve spent their entire adult lives searching for the one woman who can handle them both. Adam is the playful, indulgent lover, while Jacob is the possessive, loving Dom. When Serena comes into their lives, Adam is certain that she’s the one. But Jacob’s past comes back to haunt them all. He is suspicious of Serena’s story, and his concerns are driving a wedge between him and Adam. But when the stalker strikes, they will have to come together or lose each other forever…

Lexi Blake has co written two books and now solely written two books.  After reading this one, I think it’s time for Ms Blake to retire.  Why?  Because I do not see how on earth she will manage to top this book.

I loved this book.  I laughed, I cried, I yelled… I was seriously pulled so deep into the story.  It was amazing.  Having several author friends, it was so much fun reading a book  about an erotic romance author who writes BDSM menage.  The entire time I was reading it I was going “Hey!  I know that woman!”  Of course, that also may help explain why I immediately felt connected to Serena from the start of the book.

Adam and Jake were both amazing.  I really need both of them in my life.  I’d even be willing to fight Serena for them.  They aren’t perfect but they are perfectly yummy.   I was impressed that there was really only one major scene that I wanted to kick one or both of them a few times.  There were a few times I wanted to shake them and ask “what are you thinking???”  but only one where they had me so pissed off I was ready to hurt them.   And, I must confess, that I felt that it was dropped a little too easily.  I would have liked a bit more of an actual apology.

I just want to say one thing beyond READ THIS BOOK, and that is… Does Lexi Blake have a crush on a certain author that I know of?  I’ve realized that there’s a reason I kept going “Hey, I know that woman!”  That’s because I really DO know that woman!  Does Serena remind YOU of any author out there?  Did you recognize her?  Keep reading for details about the contest!!

Rating: 5 of 5 Kinks!
This is the second book from the Masters & Mercenaries series in which Adam Miles and Jacob Dean are assigned to protect erotica romance author Serena Brooks from a stalker. In the previous book these two were secondary characters who worked as a team in the firm usually posing as a gay couple. They were cute and sweet and didn’t hesitate in taking advantage of their stereotypical persona to score with ladies who wanted to help the couple get over their gayness amd become bi or hetero. Their true nature is revealed in this book as alpha Doms  who are looking for the perfect sub to share a menage relationship with.

I absolutely loved this book. It had that special something that not many books have on me. At first I thought it was a pretty straightforward story about romance author that has a fan who has crossed the line and become a pain in the butt to Serena. I thought I had the stalker figured out at page 33 and congratulated myself on figuring it out until I got to page 53. But for sure I knew who the stalker now terrorist was by page 103. And then found out that was probably wrong too. Grrrrr. I just couldn’t  stop until I found out who the darn stalker was and if these three would have a HEA ending. This was one of the few times I wanted to skip to the end of the book because I couldn’t take it anymore. I HAD TO KNOW. Needless to say I kept reading and in the process enjoyed one heck of a terrific read. It has suspense. It has awesome BDSM action. It has twists and turns that kept me guessing literally to the end. It was a story enhanced by the erotica/BDSM elements instead of a loosely based erotica book with a story. It was also the closest I have ever come to potentially seeing the real world of an erotica romance author. I outright laughed over Serena’s revenge car scene with her ex-husband and squirmed when Jake and Adam finally took her to the BDSM club for ‘research’ purposes. And her inspirational props still have me laughing. Combine that with the well developed secondary characters who weave in and out of the story in a masterfully written way this book is a winner. I just can’t wait for the next book in this series.

This book stole my heart. It is well written, has action, suspense, chemistry, and a bratty sub begging for discipline and training. It is especially recommended if you enjoy a little suspense and ‘who done it’ read that I dare you to predict the ending before you get to it.

Contest!
Now, I believe I mentioned a contest above.  In Riane’s review, she asked if you recognized the real life author that Serena seems to be loosely based on.  Or not so loosely depending on how you look at it.  If you can answer that question, USING THE FORM BELOW, and not the comments.  (If you give away the answer in the comments, you will be sent to the corner and none of the Doms will play with you.)   Tell me who you think Serena is and the winners will be placed in a hat for a drawing of that authors new book that is being released later this month.  Please note that this is not a giveaway from either author… it is my own and will come out of my own pocket.  Just saying.  Contest is open through Friday June 15th.

You can use the comments to tell me how easy you think it was in identifying who it is or if you think I’m crazy for even making that connection. :)   If you haven’t read this book, you can hurry, read it and get your name in the drawing before it ends!
